Stop Hurting Me! - The Beginning Of My Ascendance — LiveJournal
Stop Hurting Me!|
I'm fairly confident my mana base is good. I have many flaws in my game, but my one confidence is my knowledge of mana bases, which is why I tend to do so well in Sealed.
It continue to happens in real life - at the pre-release yesterday I drew more lands than spells in all three games of a match, despite there only being 16 lands in the deck. It's very unlikely, but it happens.
I suspect what the problem may be is that good decks can win with fewer cards (as evidenced by my pre-release deck going to three games). I've had decks that can survive on three mana for many turns, and I've had decks that will dominate a top-decking "8 mana on the table" kind of battle. I likely need to work better at balancing early and late game, something I was particularly aware of at the pre-release where I put in a 2-mana 1/3 with a disability just because I needed an early drop and the option to play two spells in a late-game turn. The return of Scry has me excited as I was extraordinarily excited by the ability to edit my upcoming draws - Future Sight seems to have lots of randomness reducers, which should reward the skilled player.
And I definitely get frustrated quickly. Heck, the head judge at the pre-release even suggested that I take it a bit less seriously because it's just a pre-release. I need to work on it - I was hoping that writing about it might help, but I'm not sure it did.
