Good morning,

I do understand the history and the present fairly well. The article alone is just another step in the 40 year history, but additional intelligence suggests that major armed conflict may break out on the border very soon.

If you are planning on travelling to Syria, I'd suggest finding some contacts in the intelligence community who can tell you what is going on behind the scenes. The US State Department has regional security officers (RSOs) in their embassies who are a good source of security information. I imagine that the Canadian government has similar officers in place.

There are also commercial travel risk management firms. iJet (www.ijet.com) is one that has a good reputation. I have no connection with them, but if we needed this sort of resource, they're who I'd go to.

Well in OSAC site there are tarvel warnings for many countries but Syria is not one of them.
