We were hoping the US government would do that, but it's un-clear if this has actually happened. Quite frankly, it's un-clear that anyone was actually contacted - communications from the US Embassy to the Canadian Embassy to Ottawa to us are often tricky.

I'm going to follow up with the Foreign Affairs folks and make sure that our info is being passed along to these guests the Americans have supposedly contacted. We'll see what they say.

Hi, Matthew. Have you tried asking the Canadian media to investigate the American Embassy/government's reluctance to help? Doesn't CBC have that chap Henry Champ in Washington-maybe he could start asking some questions. Or at least he could talk to his American counterparts-maybe that would get Nicole's story in the American press. And it would be especially pertinent now, after today's new stories about the Spanish men: Nicole is current news on an international level.
