My Sister, Nicole Vienneau, Has Gone Missing in Syria|
Which photo are you looking at - do you have a link?
I wanted to see what you're talking about so I looked at this image:http://vintagevocalslabel.com/Citadel%201.JPG
And her first name is in the wrong spot, but I believe that column is for the departure date and other notes and she never checked out.
Is that the image you're looking at? There are a lot of photos and translations floating around, so it's tough to keep track.

i also think it looks odd and writing seems to be made by a different person than the previous entries -

What I noticed is that they recorded everybody's birthdate except for hers. They have her passport number though so this probably only implies an oversight(?)

I also agree that it looks odd.
Her name is written first then last and her birthdate is missing in the line. Of course, we can all assume there is some malicious reason for the differences, but assumptions are not a good idea at this point.
You refer to the page from the Citadel in Palmyra...but she did check out of there-it was the Cairo that wouldn't have that info.
Also, the hand writing is pretty similar...the writer's "E"s tend to look like "G"s.
I am the original "anonymous" poster. I guess I was confused by the different hotel logs. The one you linked is the one I'm referring to, but if, as someone stated, the Citadel was the hotel in Palmiya (sp?) that she checked out of, I still don't understand why they didn't note her departure in the appropriate column. I also looked at the Cairo hotel log book, and the excerpt included didn't include her arrival ... however, you noted that there seemed to be initial confusion surrounding the exact details of when she was last sighted, and I was wondering whether these had been addressed to your satisfaction. Was there a journal entry for the 29th or 30th? Did she write these daily? I must admit I find it odd that the guy at the Cairo had her stuff for that long and did not contact the Canadian Embassy to report that she had not checked out, or been seen. I'm not really familiar with all of the specifics, so I apologize if I'm muddying the waters!
Speaking of confusion - it appears I got a bit confused by my own blog!
You are correct, that is the Citadel Hotel, not the Cairo. We've only published translated Cairo lists at this point.
An additional twist to Nicole's trip is that we can't identify where she stayed for her two final nights in Palmyra. The Citadel claims she was there only two nights, but her journal doesn't indicate any shift to a new hotel. We have presumed she stayed there but they didn't report it for some reason (avoid taxes?)
If, as you point out, there is no departure date, then that helps justify that she never left, they just didn't keep good records. Hopefully it doesn't mean that she left without paying - that's definitely not her style.

the first column is arrival date. (the arabic on top left). did u notice that the names are grouped or separated by a line? the heading on that group where Jacqueline Vienneau was written is "March 25, 2007". This might be the arrival date. i'm not sure tho. there are no departure dates written on that page. the entries on the column before each name where Viennaeu did not fill in, pertain to birthdates. i don't know if this information/translatin will be of any help like a lead for any information to her. i hope it would.
