Still reading and have been since very close to the beginning (having seen a posting on craigslist's travel forum while browsing for a European trip I took in August '07).
I assume you've seen this before but it would bother me if I didn't post it: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/6651793.stm. I noticed that Amnesty International commented on the story. Have you been able to get them involved in your case at all? Maybe you could talk to the person who was kidnapped?

I do recall seeing that back in the very beginning. Because it's politically charged and in Damascus vs. Hama, we didn't follow up any further.
