My Sister, Nicole Vienneau, Has Gone Missing in Syria|
I did see "Taken" - my March 23rd entry describes my reaction.
I don't think we have Nicole's passport photo. Our hopes with the photos is that someone would have seen her in person. No one in Syria could try to pass themselves off as Nicoel and use her passport and photo. It's possible that her passport has left the country and is being used elsewhere, but that expands the search beyond our resources.
A number of people (including myself) have repeatedly walked the area she was last seen and handed out posters. We also put ads in newspapers and posted things on walls throughout the area. Everyone in the nearby neighbourhoods knows she's missing.
Occasionally I get notified of kidnappings and other crimes in Syria - there was a British/Syrian woman who's husband was supposedly grabbed by security forces. We've found that there is frequently more to the story than is in the press, and only if it's a non-Syrian foreigner do we follow-up. That type of kidnapping has not occurred (that we're aware of) since Nicole disappeared.
